I’ve not sure how many of you out there has laid you eyes on this piece of candy. It’s a poster for the Swedish Sjöhistoriska Museet (Marine Museum) and their exhibition on the Estonia catastrophe – which happened a few years ago. A boat between Sweden and Estonia had some technical issues and sank. Many people were killed and the matter is still a bit of a mystery.
The creator of this piece of wonder is the art director Gabor Palotai, which I think was in the jury for the D&AD of 2006. Anyhow, he won the “Golden Egg” in Sweden, which is handed out to the best piece of design that year.
It’s just amazing how with so few means he can tell a story and create a poster with so high impact. Astounding poster design and an inspiration for all the typography lovers out there…this one goes out to you lot - something for those lonely nights!
